Writer & Teacher Jane Anne Staw
I was once a blocked writer. Every term paper I wrote in college
involved weeks of hand ringing, piles of crumpled paper-this was
the era of electric typewriters- and sleepless nights. Yet, I
am now a writer who has published one book, co-authored another,
and has in hand another manuscript ready to circulate. Even more
surprising, I teach writing in an M.F.A. Program and coach writers
at every phase of the writing process-from working through writing
block and inhibition to revising completed manuscripts.
I consider myself extremely fortunate to be living the writing
life I live today. And because I have learned so much in the process
of overcoming my block and in writing my books, I am anxious to
help other writers free themselves from whatever may be inhibiting
them, so that they too can blossom on the page.
